Steel Cross has had the pleasure of working closely with Meltdown ministry over the past year in several areas one of those areas is the InTune Conference

Set up to teach Christian hard music bands about the music industry the most recent InTune (June 08) focused more on the spiritual and ministry aspects of a Christian band - the band members in attendance all got a lot out of the day and have seen major impacts on their bands

Below is some of the points made from the 3 speakers of the InTune so you can see some of the things touched upon

InTune 2009

InTune conference notes 21st June 2008

Dave Williams:

Be bold, fearless, and authoritative .

It's good to have some ego, but it must be controlled or else you can crash and burn like many other bands before you!

Healthy competition is fine to have, even with other Christian bands. It will drive you on and motivate you.

It is vital for the bands who love Jesus to be united . Network and call each other. Form relationships and pray for each other. The Steel Cross team would love to pray for you or give you advice on how/what to pray. Please just call them.

Brian Bassingthwaighte:

The world will watch you and is already watching you because you say you are a Christian. They are expecting to see something different.

Don't pretend to be the same as others.

Don't play down God's part in your life so as not to rock the boat. That is not honoring to God!

Make sure you pray to prepare the way . As soon as a gig is booked, start preparing the ground.

Don't forget to ask god to unveil the eyes and ears, and soften the hearts of the people who are coming to see you.

Pray for unity within your band. Watch out for each other and keep each other accountable . What goes on behind closed doors? It only takes one band member to bring down a band.

Expect people to be saved, expect to see healing's!

Consider the follow-up in advance. ie. Local churches etc…

Steve Speakman: Role models .

INTEGRITY INTEGRITY INTEGRITY!!!!!!!!

Main focus should be – What does God want from/for your band?

For Bloodgood they were focused on Christ and were unstoppable . When their focus drifted off Jesus they sank.

Many bands can start with the best intentions. If uncontrolled ego's kick in then it falls apart.

Integrity and excellence are needed from all of you.

Kids look up to you , they look at what you wear, who you endorse, if you drink and how much, how you talk, and what your attitude is.

Don't do something that might make others fall. Ie steve's maralyn manson shirt.

You have to be Christ to everyone.

People will watch you all the time, not just on stage .

Encourage others, never bring people down.

DO EXACTLY WHAT GOD SAYS….AND URGENTLY You don't know what's going to happen in the next 20 minutes, so don't put it off!

Carry it through.

You are there to serve!

Watch your mouths at all times.

Speak out positively about the band and where you are going.

Show God's light in everything you do.

This is an enormous responsibility.

Read these:

Rom 12 vs 2 – do not be conformed

Eph 4 – put off the old man

UNITY, LOVE AND CONCERN FOR EACH OTHER!!!!
